Our Summer Trip To Utah: Friday July 30

Franco & I and my entire family had the opportunity to travel to Utah for my cousin Kevin's wedding last weekend. I'm so happy Franco got to come this time! Last time in April for Ed's wedding, he stayed home to welcome his cousin who was returning from his mission. It's always nice to travel as a couple. Then you get to experience everything and share memories together.

We left at 3:30 am on Friday, July 30th and arrived in Provo, Utah at around 3 pm. Not bad, considering the hour time change, too. That night, we attended a friend's reception in South Jordan. It was the beginning of our family reunion!
Not the best picture, but I did get a haircut last week. Mayra did a good job.
One of the reasons I went to the reception was to see my childhood friends Airin, Andy, and Sofia. I've know them literally all of my life. Funny thing: there are 13 kids in their family and while I was hugging Sofi {the oldest} and saying hi, the kids kept popping up, one right after the other. They have an even baker's dozen! Wow.
Here are some of the cousins together: Karent, my cousin from Mexico, Ruth, my sister, Aliyeh, Shay, Nejad {so handsome!} and my brother Aldrich.
The reception was what I like to call Traditional Mexican-American. The decor and dress were elegant and sophisticated, but the dancing and music were totally Latino! I love weddings like that. People actually dance! And we tore up the dance floor.

In traditional Latin weddings, before the garter toss, the couple stands on chairs and are held firmly by other people. While a fast-paced song plays, the "bachelors" hold hands and run around the hall and under the linked arms of the couple. The dangerous part of it, and the reason there are people holding the couple, is that the boys get rowdy and try to bump the groom off the chair. They didn't get too bad this time, but it was still fun to see them running around wearing luchador masks.
My brother Charlie {below} joining in the fun. The MC kept telling them to run faster. At one point he came over and tried to knock the groom off himself because the bachelors weren't doing it!
Anyway, it was fun. We left right after the Mariachi band came in at 10:30pm and it was still going on. I love being Mexican. We know how to party :)
