Chicken + Blading

Wednesday night has become our de facto date night as of late.

I usually have to babysit on weekends or something comes up, and plus every Friday night is football until the season is over. It works out because I specifically like to keep Wednesday nights free--it's kind of like my catchall day. Another plus is that lots of places have discounts because it's the middle of the week. Like, the $3 theater in Ventura has $10 date nights on Wednesdays, which includes two movie tickets, two sodas, and two popcorns. Can't beat that. We saw Despicable Me last week on date night.

Last night we went to Franco's second favorite restaurant, El Pollo Norteño in Oxnard. So inexpensive but so good. Half a $5 chicken, bean, and rice burrito plate, which includes salsa & chips goes a long way for me.

And to think we were thinking of trying out the new Cafe Rio in Oxnard. Really, I don't see a point in paying $10 or more for a semi-authentic plate of "Mexican" food which doesn't include a drink when there are dozens of holes-in-the-wall places like Pollo Norteño right in our neighborhood. Correct me if I'm wrong. Besides, most of the things I can and do just make myself. Thank goodness for my Mexican upbringing, haha!

Another plus on Wednesday night is a discount at Skating Plus, a roller skating rink. Sure, the only other people skating around are, well, eight years old, but it's better because I can work on breaking in my new {old} roller blades without fear of bumping into everyone! Having good quality blades really does make it easier.

I love Wednesdays. It was a fun date night. =)
