Last month, my niece Aaliyah turned two years old. I wanted to continue my goal to hand make all my gifts this year, so I made her an alphabet book featuring herself!
I made a boo boo and didn't take a picture of the finished product, but hopefully you'll be able to imagine it.
I designed the front and back of the "book" on white paper.
I scoured myspace, facebook, and all of my picture albums over the past two years for pictures of her. I didn't want to ask her parents because {1} I started the project a little late in the game {like the night before her birthday!} and {2} I wanted it to be a surprise!
So once I found pictures I "alphabetized" them using Adobe Illustrator:
Once all the pictures were printed {front and back on regular sheets of paper} I cut them, laminated them {my friend Corrine let me borrow her laminator}, punched a hole on the top left corner of each, and pulled a metal ring through them. Now she can work on her ABC's by looking at pictures of herself and learn words she can relate to!
I wish this was a more formal tutorial-type of post, but if you have any questions, please comment or email me: anniezparis@hotmail.com. It was a fun & fairly easy project, it cost me less than $10 {ink, laminating sheets} and Aaliyah loved it! I'll try to get a picture for you =)

I did something sorta like this (not nearly as stylized or lovely) with a Jesus church book with Syd & Rob's names in it & with a BYU book for my friend Esther's little guy. It's not terribly hard but a BIG crowd pleaser.
