Franco & I live right behind the campus of CSUCI, my alma mater, and Franco's current school.
I had some time last Monday to walk around the campus, something I hadn't done for about a year and a half, even though I live literally feet away.
I saw the changes they've made as well the renovations and additions
{it used to be a mental hospital in the 30s}.
I was able to visit my classrooms, namely my ceramics class, one of my favorite studies.
It looked the same: dusty, messy, but full of creative works.
It made me want to sit down at the wheel and make something!
Maybe I'll take a pottery class this year...
I walked through the bell tower and through courtyards and hallways,
remembering the four years I spent there. I can't believe how fast that time went...
One place I hadn't been able to visit yet was the new Student Union building,
built at the place where the old library I worked at used to be.
It's huge! And pretty.
Inside, there are chic sofas and chairs, restaurants, pool tables and other games, t.v.s, etc. It was impressive!
Coming out of door, something caught my eye.
I graduated in 2008, and I vaguely remember paying something like $40 for a "senior gift."
I never knew what it was for.
Well, I found out on Monday night.
I'm on the wall!
My name is engraved on the concrete wall outside the new Student Union. It was totally unexpected and fun to see. I'm a part of the permanent history of this growing university. I'm glad I was able to attend CSUCI, and am so blessed to live in this paradise of a place.
