San Francisco Trip: Friday, November 27

Some more fun pictures from our SF trip.
Reminder, this is my journal/scrapbook!
Sorry for the long posts =}

Since our Thanksgiving night was spent watching movies as well as laughing at the news about people camping out for Black Friday sales the next day, we got a pretty good night's sleep.
To my surprise, Franco said he would like to check out the sales at the Westfield mall a few blocks down the street.
I asked him a few times if he was sure, he said he was, so we set out not too early,
but earlier than we would have gone out normally while on vacation.

Our hotel was a block from the imposing San Francisco City Hall.
Its architecture reminded me of Paris.

The mall was five blocks away so we enjoyed watching the crowds and natives along the street.

At the mall, I shopped at the three-story Forever 21 {heaven}where I bought my sister Ruth a couple of nice $5 scarves, and some nice shirts and accessories for me. =}
We wandered around the crowds and though we didn't want to wait in any lines {like at Old Navy for example} we did get some good shopping done.

We then caught the muni up to Chinatown
and walked up and down those streets,
enjoying the culture and cool food!

After Chinatown, we walked and walked and walked up through North Beach all the way to Pier 39~
I don't know how many blocks that was but we did get to walk up and down some gnarly hills!
Pier 39 was beautiful~ bustling with families and shoppers and decorated for Christmas.
I had to stop and take some pictures with the carousel there.

It was lunchtime by then {about 2 pm} and it was just starting to drizzle so we ducked into Bubba Gump's restaurant and had us some warm fish & chips.
We'd never eaten there so it was a nice treat! And we had a cool view of the bay, including Alcatraz Island.

Pier 39 is also famous for the seals that lounge on the docks, but I think that because it was a little cold and rainy, most of them stayed in the water. There were only two lazy seals that day.

Walk a couple blocks north along the harbor and you come to Fisherman's Wharf.
We pretty much bypassed the lines of people eating and buying fish and headed to the Musee Mechanique.
What a trip! This place is so cool.
It's this big warehouse-type of building full of old arcade games. And I mean OLD.
With 25 cents you can watch puppets dance, or wooden toys box: picture the carnival in the movie Pinocchio. Kind of scary but totally cool.

We had to take some photobooth pictures. It takes them so fast but it was really fun! A nice souvenir.

Right before I took the picture below, a big, burly African-America man tried this arm-wrestling game and was so close but didn't win. Needless to say, Franco got a little intimidated so he just decided to pose with it.
This is the game that Anne Hathaway's character encourages Julie Andrews' character to try in Princess Diaries {watch part on YouTube here. It's so funny}.

Walk a couple more blocks up the harbor and you'll find shops and Ghirardelli Square.
For us, there wasn't much to entice, except more pretty Christmas decorations. Our feet were hurting a bit and it was getting a little chilly so we headed up to the bus station to return to our hotel.

I posed with a trolley because we didn't want to wait an hour and a half {it was the day after Thanksgiving} or pay $10 a ride. We'd rather pay $2 for the bus line which takes us right up to our hotel.
Another eventful day in San Franscisco!
Just one more day to go.
