When I was growing up,
we never had dogs or cats.
We had a few goldfish
and a hamster...
{which my brother Charlie stepped on when he was about 5...
I never wanted one again after that tragic accident.}
..but we had bunnies.
LOTS of bunnies.
At one point, there were over thirty rabbits running around our backyard.
I had one I named Edmund.
She would lay on my lap tummy-side-up and I'd stroke her soft fur.
She'd close her eyes and enjoy it.
After a while, my dad would say,
"Okay, we have too many rabbits.
We can keep one or two and the other ones will have to go bye-bye."
So to our intense sadness,
we'd sell them,
give them away,
or let them go free in a park or field nearby.
We just love bunny rabbits.
The tradition of having pet bunnies has not stopped.
My sister Ruth received a bunny on her birthday last year.
Meet Cecil.
{Pronounced See-sill.}
He is an albino bunny with lots of spunk.
He resides in my parent's backyard.
He has a nice roomy cage but he's very intelligent
and gets out every time.
So he just roams around the yard,
lying lazily beneath the grapevines
and tomato plants.
He has a great life.
He is Ruth's baby.
He is so docile he let me take a couple close-ups of him and a few pictures with him.
He is very photogenic.
Can't wait to have my own bunnies.
I need to live in a place with a yard, though.
Who are/have been your favorite pets?

We have a puppy and a kitty right now. We love them but the kids especially adore them. I didn't have any pets growing up other than a turtle named Guy.
Cute bunnies! Are they really nice? My mom always told me I didn't want bunnies b/c they were mean. Maybe she was just telling me that so she wouldn't have to get me one. HA!
my experience with rabbits is that they scratch you. So, I'm more of a kitty fan. :)
